Police say a 7-year-old boy is alert after a truck struck him in El Mirage on Friday afternoon.
According to El Mirage Police Department Sgt. Chris Culp, a white truck was traveling southbound on Main Street, north of Windrose Drive, when the boy walked into the street and in front of the vehicle.
Sgt. Culp said the boy did not use the crosswalk. After the truck struck him, the boy fell down but got back up. The driver exited his vehicle and assisted the boy to the sidewalk to wait for the El Mirage Fire Department. The child was alert and talking.
Officials flew him to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for precautionary reasons.
Sgt. Culp said the extent of the injuries is unknown.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
