Glendale police arrest woman in connection with Sept. 1 murder

Glendale police arrested a woman in connection with a shooting death last week, according to a release.

Dorothy Lee, 53, was booked yesterday on one count of first degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On Sept. 1 at about 7:30 p.m., Glendale Police Department patrol officers responded to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of North 67th Avenue near Bethany Home Road in reference to a shooting. Officers located an apartment with blood leading to the front door, according to police. Officers located 57-year-old Linda Harris with a gunshot wound. Glendale Fire Department personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to police, a male witness told officers he was present during the shooting. He assisted detectives in identifying the people inside the apartment at the time of the incident and the shooter.

Police positively identified the shooter as Ms. Lee, with the investigation revealing evidence at Ms. Lee’s residence and on herself. She was arrested at about 3 p.m. Sept. 6 at her residence, which is different than where the shooting occurred.

“Detectives worked diligently and were able to make an arrest in this homicide investigation in less than a week from the occurrence,” the release stated.
