Peoria police have deemed a device found inside a local Walmart on Saturday a hoax, according to a police spokesman.
The Peoria and Glendale police departments aided in the investigation, according to a release.
The incident occurred March 18 at about 10:30 a.m. at the Walmart located at 7975 W. Peoria Ave.
According to a release, an employee found a device that looked like a bomb inside a stock room.
The store evacuated its employees and customers prior and during police arrival, according to a release.
Officials determined the device was made to appear like an explosive but posed no danger.
Officials checked the rest of the store with the assistance of the Glendale police’s K9 unit but found nothing else.
“Peoria Police Detectives are actively investigating this incident and are currently reviewing surveillance video from the store,” a release stated. “Walmart has been extremely helpful in assisting with the investigation and we are thankful for their continued partnership.”
Police have not identified any suspects and no arrests have been made in the incident.
