Letter to the editor: Eve’s thrift store will close doors

We are sad to report that Eve’s Treasures will be closing June 30.
This decision, although incredibly painful, is necessary as the cost of rent continues to increase each and every year. We stopped accepting donations after April 15 in an effort to sell the existing inventory.
Eve’s Treasures has been a part of our agency since November 2006 and has provided an opportunity to raise funds for victims of domestic, sexual and teen dating violence. It has also served as a place for our victims to find household items when moving and clothes to replace the ones they left behind.
Eve’s Place wants to thank the generous donors who have supported our work with victims for the past 10 years. We especially want to thank our volunteers who have donated their time, energy and effort to keep the store clean and efficient. We could not have done our work without you!
As we wrap up our work at Eve’s Treasures, we will be having sales regularly and are working to find alternative ways for you to continue to donate some items to the victims. More news on that later, so be checking our website regularly (www.evesplace.org).
In the meantime, your donations can be dropped off at the Lutheran Thrift Store in our same complex or at the Valley View Community Food Bank Thrift Store, 12321 N. Grand Ave., El Mirage.
Eve’s Place will continue to provide services to more victims than ever as we have expanded our program to new locations throughout the Valley and state. We can be reached at 623-537-5380 if you have questions or need assistance.
