Letter to the editor: VA system fails vets

The VA healthcare system has a toxic and corrosive culture.
It’s a labyrinth that’s impossible to navigate. We have 21 million veterans but, only 7 million use the VA for their healthcare and 75 percent of them get some of their care outside the system through private plans for which they pay a premium, co-pays and deductibles.
The VA healthcare system is an abysmal failure. The only way to really solve the problems is through competition.
Let vets get their healthcare where their needs can best be meet at no cost, even if that’s through the private sector. Let the money follow the veterans.
